‘Poetries’ conference at Jyväskyla University

Jyväskylä University Creative Writing Studies (Finland), a new member of the EACWP, will host POETRIES,  a conference  that will take place in August focusing on new poetry as well as on the methods of writing and teaching poetry. The call for papers is already open up to July 15th, 2014 



The Creative Writing Studies Conference at Jyväskyla will be presided as the keynote speaker by Don Paterson, celebrated poet and the professor of Creative Writing at the University of St Andrews.

His poetry has won a number of awards, including  the T. S. Eliot Prize on two occasions. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and a Fellow of the English Association; he received the OBE in 2008 and the Queen’s Gold Medal for Poetry in 2010.

Paterson is interested in linguistic and cognitive scientific approaches to ars poetica, and a book on poetic composition has long been in preparation.

Until July 15th, 2014, Jyväskylä University welcomes proposals for papers in research of writing or teaching poetry (abstracts of 300 words):

  • Theoretical or artistic interest in exploring language by poetry.
  • The methods of teaching.
  • Exploring language in poetry workshops.
  • Questions of mentoring or in editing
