quadrat – minimal square texts

via the keyboard, poems, rhythmic lyrics, visual speech music and mini-dramas can be recorded and played back on a 7 x 7 character field. almost anything is possible within 7 x 7 seconds.

The app records the keypresses and plays them back at the same speed, position and sequence they were entered. from minimalist text films to sound poetry and nano-dramas everything is possible.

i usually start with trial and error.
with playing around.
what can i do with it?
which possibilities open up?
what happens when i do this or that?
what does it look like when i do something unusual?
what does it sound like?
how do the individual characters sound like?
what do upper or lower case letters sound like?
punctuation marks?
what does it look like when i place characters in a square?
what does it look like when i alternately write above, below, left, right?
when i delete characters with the spacebar?
clicking wildly with the mouse and writing simultaneously?
when i use chaos and order?
how can i work with speed or timing?
can i create tension by density or thinning out (both spatially and temporally)?
or what happens when i create geometric shapes with letters? rectangles? triangles? circles? lines?
or when words intersect like in crossword puzzles?
can i work with ambiguities?
what if i build up words slowly and then rewrite them?
if i exchange single letters to create a new word?
if i create empty spaces in words or fill them first?
have a look at what others did. read my reviews. a lot of things are possible here. a form is developed in exchange with others and other ideas.
