The NAWE conference explores writing in education in all settings. Presentations and workshop proposals are welcome from creative writing tutors working in schools, colleges, community settings and in higher education at any level.
This year’s conference will showcase key outputs from Paper Nations, our Arts Council England strategic partnership. For the past two years, NAWE and TRACE at Bath Spa University have been collaborating through Paper Nations on a project to investigate good practice and barriers to writing support for young people. Our research and development has involved a programme of work with young people, parents, educators and writers. Join the event to celebrate excellence in writing support for young people.
The Conference will run from Friday lunchtime through to Sunday midday, with special events on both evenings. All presenters need to register as delegates but benefit from a significant discount.
New suggestions in terms of presentation format are welcome as well as practice-based presentations with a preference for proposals that actively engage delegates and give them new insights into the practice of teaching and writing
- a brief outline (100 words), exactly as you would wish it to appear in the programme
- a short biography for all presenters (50 words each)
- details of any technical requirements (all rooms will be equipped with AV/Powerpoint/laptops/etc)
Your proposal might be a presentation, workshop or shared panel, for any length from 30 mins – 90 mins. Shorter presentations may be grouped according to focus by the conference organisers. Submissions via Submittable, by Monday 7 May.
NAWE is the one organization supporting the development of creative writing of all genres and in all educational and community settings throughout the UK. It is currently a EACWP honorary member after signing an agreement of mutual membership over the participation of our president Javier Sagarna in Bristol (November, 2014).
