Nansen Academy is an independent educational institution, based on our humanistic inheritance and focusing on philosophy, cultural history (literature, art, music) and current affairs. It is open to students with different political, religious and cultural backgrounds.

The yearly main course has three study programs: creative writing, creative arts and idea, culture & society, lasting from September till May. There are also a variety of summer courses – and related to writing: writing courses, autor’s courses, reader’s courses, and an extensive cooperation with The Norwegian Literature Festival (in May).

The study program of creative writing focuses on fiction writing, poetry, drama and scriptwriting. The teachers are professional in their fields. The working language is Norwegian, but Swedish and Danish language can be used. Minimum age is 18; no upper limit.
