From April, 25 to April, 26 (2019), the AWP will celebrate its first annual conference “The Writer’s Voice” at the University College Dublin. The call for papers is already open until December, 14 (2018)
Associated Writing Programmes Ireland aims to be a comprehensive organisation for third-level creative writing activities and programmes across the island of Ireland based in UCD. Its mission is to be a resource, advocate and centre of excellence in the provision and delivery of creative writing theory, research and practice.
Proposals are invited for presentations and panels at the first annual Associated Writing Programmes Ireland Conference to be held on Thursday April 25th, and Friday April 26th, 2019.
Presentation proposals should be 200 words on topics related to creative writing. Panel proposals should include a description of the theme, in addition to abstracts and bios (50 words each) for each presenter on the panel. Single presentations will be 20 minutes. 3 person panels will be 60 minutes. Technical requirement for presentations and / or panels should be detailed.
The conference is interested in receiving proposals which address the broad themes of creative writing, including pedagogy, performance, craft, criticism, the editing process, genre and hybrid text, technology, publication, Irish, and International writing, as well as decolonising the creative writing curriculum.
The committee is interested in panel participation from graduate students. Proposals are also welcome from those who are not affiliated with an institution. We encourage non-traditional formats for presentations.
Attendees should be aware that this event will be held at the same time as a large gathering of Canadian poets and creative writing professors at UCD, called “Text / Sound / Performance: Making in Canadian Space,” with whom we will share a reception and public reading. Proposals exploring transnational links are welcome.
Please send proposals to email@example.com
The deadline for submissions is December 14th, 2018. Conference presenters will be notified of their acceptance by the end of January, 2018. The conference will be held at UCD, Dublin Ireland, from 25-26 April 2019.
