Cardiff University

We are an ambitious and innovative university with a bold and strategic vision located in a beautiful and thriving capital city. Our world-leading research was ranked 5th amongst UK universities in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework for quality and 2nd for impact. We provide an educationally outstanding experience for our students. Driven by creativity and curiosity, we strive to fulfil our social, cultural and economic obligations to Cardiff, Wales, and the world.

We offer a range of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes which combine the highest levels of traditional scholarship with innovative approaches to our core interests in language, communication, literature, critical theory, and philosophy.

We believe that imaginative writing plays a crucial role in negotiating the past, positioning ourselves in the present, and projecting multiple futures.

Our creative writing staff engage with hybrid genres as well as established modes and forms, and encourage critical engagement with writing and its wider contexts. They are published authors of their own fiction, poetry and poetry in translation, and train the next generation of writers and creative writing teachers.

The intellectual and social environment here is both supportive and stringent, and demonstrates how dynamic and stimulating creative writing in the academy can be.
